Rose City Park Closes It’s Doors

After 96 years of educating students, the doors closed at Rose City Park Grade School (RCP) at the end of the 2007 school year. On Sunday, June 3rd, 2007 from 2:00 to 5:00pm, a celebration took place at the school, which included a Kickoff Ceremony, including special guest speakers, a roll call of classes, and current and alumni staff recognition on the school playground. Music, refreshments, historic photo displays, and gatherings for alumni students and staff members will all be part of the festivities. There was a LOT of people there. It was very warm and unusually humid, but we made to rounds to all the classes. Having not been back since 1969, it was a shock to see that the school had been remodeled. The main hall was broken up into various sections, the corridors where the hall and lockers used to be are now partial classrooms. I spent many hours in the hallway, especially in 5th grade, outside of Miss Braat's classroom.
