That's right! It's been 50 years since we graduated from the hallowed halls of Rose City Park Grade School. And now it's time to celebrate.
The reunion committee has selected Saturday, October 5th, 2019 for our reunion - so save the date.

40th Class Reunion
Wow. What fun!
Thirty classmates from our 8th grade graduating class from 1969 celebrated our 40 Year Reunion on Saturday, August 15th. Out of 110 kids in our class, to have around 28% attend a reunion 40 years later is not a bad statistic! Not bad at all.
Judging from everyone’s comments and the jovial atmosphere, I’d be safe to say that everyone had a great time. It cracks me up that after 40 years, we all still act like teenagers when we get back together. Why is that?
It was really enjoyable to connect with old friends again. It’s somehow comforting to be reminded once again of those things, events and the special times that we shared - the glue that bonds us together as the Class of 1969.
Being a pack of fifty-somethings, as the clock ‘rounded the turn to 10:00 PM things started to wind down to a dull roar and by 11:00 the evening was complete.
Thanks to the members of the reunion committee for getting everyone pulled together. It always seems there is a rush of things to do at the last minute and then the next thing you know, it’s all done!
The folks at the Laurelwood Pub did an awesome job with the food and flowing beverages. Our thanks to them for putting up with such a boisterous group (we were kind of noisy!)

3 Days of Peace & Music
In Portland, Oregon, we’re getting ready to start high school. Do you remember what that was like? High school. I vividly remember Mrs Nelson telling us to “get ready for the time of our lives”. Madison. Grant, Benson, Girls Poly. Cool, hip, groovin’ Freshman! We sure as hell didn’t know what Woodstock was... at least not until a few years later. The movie documentary in 1970. The music. Some guys named Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Joni Mitchell singing about “going to Woodstock”, as told to her by her then boyfriend, Graham Nash (she wasn’t there). So much emotion in the music that we listened to back then. Looking back, it seems like so much was going on around us and in an instant, it was gone.
And now here we are - just a couple of days away from our 40th reunion. I will be great to see everyone once again. See you on Saturday.

When I tell people that we’re have a 40 year grade school reunion - I typically get a “deer-in-the-headlights” stare back with a moment of realization and that, “GRADE school reunion??” comment, and the “Who the hell has a grade school reunion? Hey - we do! The Rose City Park Class of 1969. Out of the ordinary? Maybe.

Happy Together
Things are progressing nicely toward our 40th Class Reunion. It’s been great to hear from so many of you.
Of, course there are a few who cannot be there. Cindy Walker Purdy sends her regrets, as she’ll be on vacation.
Marla Greenwald McHargue sent me the above photo for a Halloween Party from October 1966 (looks like they were developed in Feb 1967) You can see the other photos via the Gallery. I’m loving those party decorations!
The Reunion Committee is meeting next week for one last meeting of the minds. Must attend to any of those last minute details. Everyone is looking forward to the reunion and it’s great that there are a few people coming that have not attended our other recent reunions. Can you guess who?
One final note - it would be very helpful if you have any information on the whereabouts of our MIA’s we’d sure appreciate any updates - even of they’re a couple of years old (address, email, etc) let us know and we’ll do the sleuthing. 40th Reunion Progress
Yes, things are moving forward and the registrations have been trickling in. Thanks to everyone who has registered. It’s always nice to know how many guests to expect - especially when there’s food involved.
If you’re not planning on attending - due to being out of town, if you’re working, if you’re not feeling like you want to attend (‘cmon!!), drop me a note so I can cross you off the list. It would be appreciated.

50th Birthday Bash
The Class of 1969 celebrated their collective 50th birthdays on Saturday August 13th, 2005 at Colwood Golf Course. Many thanks to all those on the reunion committee who worked long and hard planning a great evening for everyone. In 2005, as with 2004's 35 Year Reunion, approximately 1/3 of our classmates attended the birthday bash
Class of 1969 - 35 Year Reunion
Rose City Park Class of 1969 held their 35 year grade school reunion in the summer of 2004 at McMenamin's Kennedy Grade School. It not easy to get thirty-some people to agree, but the votes are in and it was unanimous - everyone had an excellent time! Of course we took some photos that evening. (To be posted) In fact everyone had such a great time that, not to over-do a good thing, but were going to have another get together this coming summer to celebrate our collective class 50th birthdays. Yup, that's right.
